Lavender Cocktails

Thankfully, I will not be traipsing through scratchy heather counting grumpy capercailles as I was last time I visited the area (saw a grand total of zero). Instead, I’ll be joining friends for a leaving party: Keith is moving to Mexico. To mark the occasion we are all going to camp out on the estate and have a big BBQ. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is absolutely appalling! Rain all day and a low of 1oC at night. Hmmmm…

I refuse to be disheartened by this though. I’m armed with my lavender syrup and ready to make everyone a summery cocktail to drink in the rain. D thinks this is hilarious – “Camping equals beer, Wendy. Not girly cocktails!” I disagree. 😛

Thank you to the Inadvertent Gardener for the lavender syrup idea.

  • Strain into a jar.

  1. Nora B – I just discovered it recently too! A real treat.
    Tony – Enjoy!
Truffle – Delightful is just the right word. It felt like a special occasion just drinking it.
Holler – I have lavender in my garden. Just a small patch at the moment but I’m hoping it will spread next year. I’ve picked most of the flowers already!

  2. That sounds wonderful, I’ve notice people using lavender for cooking here in the states more and more. We can buy packages of it that are called;” Culinary Lavender”.

  3. Tfjules – Thanks for dropping by. I grow three types of lavender in my garden. When the patches get bigger perhaps I can try each one individually and decide which one is my “culinary lavender”. 🙂

  4. I did enjoy-but I omitted the soda water and lemon. It was still great. So good, I had to blog about it too. Thanks for the recipe!
