We’re just back from Rome. Will post some photos from our trip tomorrow. No sign of the post holiday blues though. Always happy to come home and spend time with this pup, no matter the weather.

Handa Island

Handa Island is a nature reserve off the west coast of Scotland.  I’d never heard of it until this summer when I decided I wanted to see a puffin.  These beautiful wee birds tend to leave Scotland late July so at the beginning of August I knew there was a chance I’d be disappointed.  Half way round the island I’d accepted that puffin spotting would have to wait until next year – and then there he was.

We’ve been out and about in the Highlands this last month and it’s been rather spectacular.   First up was a walk up Meall a Bhuachaille (pronounced meal-a-bookle), a popular Corbett near Aviemore.

West Coast Postcard

Rosemarkie Beach

Rosemarkie beach is a cracking place for a walk at any point of the year.   Up at the point you can watch the dolphins catching fish (just after high tide is the best time); head east along the beach and there are Blyton-esque caves and pretty waterfalls.

West Coast Adventures

Sometimes we forget we’re just over an hour from the west coast with its beautiful beaches and stunning views.  Other times we remember and have weekends like this.
